gu guan 鼓(腹)罐 drum-shaped jar.
First appearing during the Kangxi reign of the Qing dynasty and popular till the Daoguang reign, this jar has a slightly inverted mouth and is covered with two circles of nipple-like protrusions near the mouth rim and the base respectively. A pair of animal masks are appliqu d on the sides. It is usually covered with dou qing* green glaze. Some examples from the Yongzheng reign are in tian lan* blue glaze and have a cover.
