    Popular in the Song dynasty, porcelain brush washers were produced in the Ru, Guan, Longquan and Yaozhou kilns, with the Ru products being the most highly prized. Apart from the usual round washer, there are many varieties including the tripod washer, the washer with a wide angular mouth rim, the peach-shaped washer, the washer in the shape of a section of sugar-cane, the washer with a lobed mouth rim and the washer with a handle. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Jingdezhen produced monochrome washers in imitation of those from the Guan, Ge and Ru kilns.
